Marking the end of a week full of commemoration and historic acknowledgment, “A Choral Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,” was held in Eisenhower Auditorium Friday night. Delaware’s only all-professional performing ensemble Elevation will join singers from Pennsylvania in vocal uplift of the civil-rights champion. “A Choral Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.” will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, in Eisenhower Auditorium. The musically diverse program will feature jazz, gospel, classical, spoken-word and other works by popular and lesser-known Black composers, including Raymond Wise, Joshuah Campell and Cynthia Echeumuna-Erivo, Moses Hogan, and Yalonda J. D. Green.

If The Presser Foundation allowed it, this review of the Elevate Vocal Arts’ (EVA) Bent, But Not Broken (BBNB) Conference would be as short as the preceding statement. Alas, this transformative conference deserves a more robust description.
On October 6th, the esteemed vocal ensemble Elevation, part of the Elevate Vocal Arts organization, graced the stage at Abington Presbyterian Church (PA) as part of the Music At Abington Concert Series. This free concert showcased Elevation, Delaware’s sole professional vocal ensemble, leveraging its extraordinary vocal prowess to deliver a rich tapestry of musical styles.
After the 2023 debut album release of Elevation’s beautiful and lush Eternity, the musical bar had seemingly been set so high, one might be forgiven for asking what this non-profit Elevate Vocal Arts’ flagship ensemble of 39 vocal artists could possibly do for an encore.
